Showerthought: my old gas mower died last Tuesday and I tried a push reel mower

It took me 45 minutes for my small yard in Lexington, but I didn't smell fumes or hear that loud engine... just the sound of the blades. Has anyone else made a switch like that and gotten used to it?

I switched to using them only on damp hair after a bad review last summer, and now my blends are way smoother, anyone else do this?

My aunt told me to always chill cookie dough overnight and I finally tried it

She said it makes a huge difference in flavor and spread. I made my usual chocolate chip recipe but split it in half, baking one batch right away and chilling the other for a full 24 hours. The chilled dough cookies were thicker, chewier, and had a richer taste. The warm dough batch spread out flat and were way more crisp. I won't skip the chill time again. Has anyone else tested this with other types of cookies, like sugar or peanut butter?

PSA: A client told me my extractions were too aggressive and she was right...

This regular came in about six months ago and straight up said, "Anthony, my face is sore for days after you work on me." I was just going for perfectly clear skin, but I was pushing way too hard. I switched to using a thinner lancet and way less pressure, focusing on gentler technique over getting every single thing. Has anyone else had to totally change their touch after client feedback?

Finally got my sourdough starter to survive a weekend in the fridge without a full collapse.

Left it in there for three days while I was out of town. Came back to it looking flat and sad, barely any bubbles. Instead of tossing it, I fed it with 50 grams of whole wheat flour and 50 grams of warm water, left it on the counter for a full 12 hours. It came roaring back, better than before. Anyone have a go-to feeding ratio for long fridge storage?

Question about using your phone's flashlight as a main light

Everyone says to use your phone's flashlight in a pinch, like if a bulb blows. I did that for a whole week in my kitchen after the overhead light went out. I thought I was being smart, just propping it up on the counter. But my friend came over and pointed out my electric bill was way up. I checked, and it was about $15 more than usual. He said it's because the phone uses a lot of power to run that LED bright, and then it needs to charge more often, which adds up. I never thought about the hidden cost! Now I just keep a cheap plug-in LED light from the hardware store in a drawer for emergencies. Has anyone else noticed their phone battery draining super fast when they use the flashlight a lot?

Pro tip: Don't cheap out on your drafting software subscription like I did

I went with a budget cloud service that saved me $15 a month, but it crashed and corrupted a full set of foundation plans I was about to send out. Had to redo two days of work from old prints. Anyone have a solid, reliable program they swear by that won't break the bank?

This old guy in a Spokane stairwell told me to always cut my tack strip with the groove facing the wall, not the floor.

He said he'd been installing since the 70s and that little trick keeps the strip from splitting when you hammer it, which saved my knuckles on a tricky landing job just yesterday.

Question about handling a sudden guest lounge overflow

Last Tuesday, our office guest lounge got swamped when a 10am client meeting ran long and a 10:30 group showed up early. We only have seating for six and suddenly had twelve people standing around. I grabbed the folding chairs from the storage closet and set them up in the hallway just outside the door, then put out the spare coffee carafe there too. It wasn't perfect, but it kept the main area from feeling like a packed elevator. Has anyone else had to quickly expand lounge space into a hallway or adjacent room?
