Ice maker on a Samsung fridge failed after 18 months

Fixed one at a client's house in Denver last Tuesday. The ice maker stopped making cubes, had to replace the whole assembly. Cost them $220 in parts alone. Anybody else seeing these Samsung ice makers fail way too fast?

Bet they designed it that way on purpose so you'd have to buy their pricey filter subscription to keep it working right.

Blew my mind when I saw the price on that assembly kit! $220 just for parts is insane for something that should last years. Another guy I know had the same thing happen at 14 months, right after the warranty ran out. Samsung really needs to own up to these garbage ice makers.
