Showerthought: A fridge's hum showed me how to listen better

My fridge had a steady hum for months. I ignored it until it got louder. A repair guy came and fixed a loose part in five minutes. It made me see that small fixes prevent big breakdowns. I guess we all miss the obvious sometimes.

Hold on, is this really such a deep take! Fridges make noise, and we tune it out because it's background sound. Calling that a lesson in listening feels like a stretch. For example, my car rattles for months before I fix it, and nothing bad happens. Most small issues don't turn into big problems if you wait a bit. We ignore stuff like that all the time, it's just normal life.

Actually, a podcast said ignoring sounds risks missing warnings.

My smoke alarm chirped for weeks before the battery died.
