inI finally stopped over-explaining my characters after a workshop in Austin
That workshop comment about the shoe size is brutal in the best way. I used to describe every crack in a sidewalk if a character was walking. Now I might just say the concrete was warm, or that they stepped over a single dandelion. Letting that one detail do the work feels so much stronger.

inWasted $90 on a 'self-mixing' mud hopper that clogged solid
Yeah @rowanwells, my dad's old lawnmower is basically a tank too.

inWatching a guy at the Oshkosh airshow fix a transponder with a paperclip made me rethink my whole kit
Man, I feel that in my soul.

inMy sauerkraut turned pink and fizzy after a week in the jar
Wait, you're just tossing it? @norag38, that fizzy pink stuff is the best part after it goes flat. It turns into this super sweet syrup. I pour it over ice cream or mix it into plain soda water. Tossing it is such a waste of good flavor. Give it a try next time before you dump it down the drain.

inQuestion about getting a clean break on a 24 inch tube
That warm up method you found is actually pretty smart for thick color glass. Cobalt blue can be a real pain with its different cooling rates. Palmer.val has a point about quick breaks with water, but on a tube that big, I've had the score run on me every time with the cold snap method. What finally worked for me was a diamond band saw, but that's a whole other tool. For hand breaking, your light score and even heat seems like the right call to avoid those chips.
