TIL those cheap ultrasonic cleaners actually work for carbs
I had a small carburetor from a 1985 Kenmore gas dryer. Thing was gummed up from sitting. Oldtimer at the supply shop in Cleveland told me to try an ultrasonic cleaner. I laughed. Figured it was a gimmick. Picked up a $40 unit on Amazon anyway. Stuck the carb in with some simple green and water. 20 minutes later it looked brand new. Passages were clear as day. Ran the dryer after reassembly and it fired right up. Any of you guys use these for small parts or just stick to soaking?

Man, that's the thing about modern life right there. We get so used to everything being complicated and expensive that we forget simple solutions actually work. Like how people spend a fortune on fancy coffee machines when a $20 pour-over makes better coffee. Or how everyone thinks you need a full shop to clean a carb when a cheap box that buzzes does the trick. It's almost like the old timer knew what he was talking about, lol. My neighbor spent like three days soaking a lawnmower carb in different solvents and it still didn't run right. Told him about this and he was pissed it took him 20 minutes instead.
