I chose a chainsaw winch over a skid steer for a tough hillside job
Had a big property in Bellingham last month with some massive alders leaning down a 40 degree slope. Everyone told me to rent a mini skid steer, but I went with a chainsaw winch setup instead. It took me almost two full days to anchor and pull each log uphill, but I didn't tear up the ground or have to build any access roads. Has anyone else had luck with winches on steep terrain like that?

Yeah I've done that, way less damage to the ground for sure.
