Serious question, has anyone else had a climbing line get stuck in a sugar maple?
I was doing a crown reduction in Springfield last month and my rope got pinched in a tight crotch about 30 feet up. I had to set a second line, climb up, and carefully work it free with a throw line weight, which took almost an hour. What's your go-to method for a pinched rope in a deciduous tree?

My old foreman in Vermont swore by a simple pulley and redirect.

Oh man, a sugar maple? Those tight crotches are brutal. I had one up in a red oak last fall, same thing, line got wedged in a fork so bad I thought I was gonna have to cut it. Honestly, I ended up doing the same as you, second line and a throw bag. Took me like 45 minutes cause I kept hitting the wrong side with the weight. Some days you just gotta accept you're gonna be up there a while.
