Serious question, has anyone else tried using a metal detector in their own backyard?
I borrowed my buddy's Garrett Ace 300 last weekend and found a 1923 wheat penny about six inches down near my fence line. It made me wonder how much history is literally under our feet. What's the oldest thing you've ever found on your own property?

Honestly, it's crazy how much random stuff just moves around over time.

My neighbor found a Civil War button, which is wild because our town wasn't even a battle site lol. Makes you wonder how stuff travels.

Read an article once about how soldiers would trade uniform parts or lose buttons on marches, so maybe it fell off someone passing through. Could have been a souvenir that got lost years later too, makes you think about all the random history just lying around. That's a cool find for your neighbor, @andrew693, makes me want to check my own backyard. Stuff really does move around more than we realize.
