A client in Austin told me my website copy sounded like a robot wrote it

I spent 3 days writing this page for a coffee shop, used all these fancy words like "artisanal" and "handcrafted." The owner read it and said nobody talks like that. So I rewrote the whole thing in how they actually talk to customers. Orders went up 15% in a month. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally scrap your approach?

Did you ever think writing "better" actually meant writing simpler? I used to load up my copy with fancy words too, but you're right - nobody talks like that in real life.

Wait, you actually used to load up your copy with "fancy words" on purpose? I thought everyone just naturally fell into that trap at some point, not strategized about it.
