I tried an AI life coach for 30 days and it made me more anxious
Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but I figured why not. The app promised better habits and less stress. After 3 weeks, I was getting annoying reminders every 2 hours to 'check in with my feelings' and plan my day down to the minute. I started feeling like a failure when I didn't hit their random goals. By day 28, I deleted it because I was literally dreading my phone buzzing. Has anyone else had a tool backfire on them like that?

30 days of that sounds brutal. i had a habit tracker app that did the same thing - kept giving me goals like "meditate for 15 mins" when i was already stressed and just wanted to sit on the couch. what exactly was the breaking point for you? was it one specific notification or just the slow build up of feeling like you were failing at your own life?

That 15 minute meditation suggestion hits hard. My breaking point was when I got a notification to "drink 8 glasses of water" while I was already holding a water bottle. Felt like the app was just rubbing it in.

yeah the "while you're already doing the thing" notifications are the worst. mine was when i was already in bed at 8pm scrolling and it popped up with "time to start your wind down routine!" like, dude, i am wound down. what helped me was just turning off all notifications and checking the app once a day on my own terms. i only tracked 2-3 tiny things too, like "stand up for 1 minute" or "drink one glass of water" so it felt doable. it's wild how a simple change in timing can make you feel like the app is working with you instead of against you.
