Hot take: that certified shop in Phoenix ruined my trust in factory paint codes
I painted a bumper for a 2020 Honda Civic last month using the code from the door jamb and it came out three shades too dark. The shop manager told me "our mix computer is never wrong" but I had to call PPG myself to get the variant number. Has anyone else had to double check paint codes from a big chain shop?

That shop manager was full of it. Paint codes change by the year and sometimes by the month. PPG has like five variants for the same color. You gotta call and get the exact one. Trusting the computer blindly is just lazy work.
