Rant: A guy at the parts counter in Reno swore I didn't need to prime bare metal before filler, and now I'm sanding it all back off
He told me modern fillers grab bare steel fine and primer just adds steps, so I skipped it on a quarter panel last month to save time. Three weeks later the filler started lifting at the edges on a hot day, and I had to grind the whole thing down to bare metal and start over. Anybody else been fed that line, or do I just have bad luck with cheap filler?
