Used a torch to warm a fender at 62 degrees and watched a 4 inch crack turn into a 9 inch one
Two weeks ago I was in my garage in Reno working a dent out of a 2011 Tacoma fender, and the metal was cold from sitting outside all night. I figured a quick pass with the torch would help it move easier, but I got greedy and held it too long in one spot. Heard a pop and the paint split wide open, right through a spot that was almost done. Now I keep a heat gun set at 250 and check the panel with my bare hand every few seconds, which feels dumb but works. Does anybody else judge temp by touch or do you all run infrared?
