Hot take: Modern boiler codes have us overthinking every seam

I remember when we could trust our EYES and a good hammer test. Now it's all ULTRASONIC this and RADIOGRAPHIC that. The old timers had a FEEL for the metal that you can't teach in a class. Sometimes I think we've traded common sense for compliance. Makes the job a lot less satisfying.

Rant: Remember when we'd pass around prints of nebula shots at the office?

Back at my old gig, there was this dude who was super into taking pics of the night sky. He'd roll in with these developed photos of nebulae, and we'd all huddle around during coffee breaks. The bosses were cool with it, broke up the monotony. Fast forward to now, with half the team remote, it's just a link in a chat. Sure, it's faster, but I miss the actual paper and the banter that came with it.

Vent: In my experience, a lot of online history forums get stuck on one theory and ignore stuff that doesn't fit. It's how good leads go cold, take that with a grain of salt.

Remember that time someone tried to bring up actual archaeology in a thread about ancient astronauts? The pile-on was brutal, like watching a documentary get heckled by a clown car. Good times, but also kinda sad how the sensible stuff just vanishes. Makes you wonder why we even bother with facts sometimes.
