Had a customer insist I use only OEM parts on their 2012 Civic
They brought it into the shop in Cedar Rapids last Tuesday for a brake job. I showed them the aftermarket rotors I usually use, same specs, half the price. They got real firm, said only Honda parts would do. So I ordered them, cost them $380 extra. Car runs fine now, but honestly feels the same. Anyone else think brand loyalty on older models is overkill?

Had a guy last month with an 08 Camry, same deal. I just said okay and billed him for the Toyota parts. Not worth the argument.

That's smart, but I'd worry about him telling everyone you overcharged.

Exactly! I did the same thing last week with a customer who insisted on factory parts. Like Jessica397 said, you can't worry about what they tell people later. Some folks just need to learn the hard way.
