Had a guy bring in a 97 Civic last Tuesday that smelled like a whole barbecue joint inside

Turns out he'd been using his back seat as a mobile smoker for three years and the grease soaked through the carpet into the floor pan, took me four hours to scrape it all out and I still couldn't get the smell gone - has anyone else dealt with food gear trashing a car interior?

Forget just the smell, that grease is basically seasoning the metal from the inside out, that floor pan's probably gonna rust out from the bottom in a year or two. A buddy of mine detailed a truck that a carpenter used to haul bags of concrete mix in, the dust got everywhere and mixed with sweat to form this weird paste that bonded to the upholstery like adhesive. Food gear is one thing but construction debris turns a car into a biohazard real quick, never mind what that grease does to your resale value.

It's like people forget their car is a vehicle, not a shed on wheels.
