Had to choose between a cheap scan tool and an expensive one last month

I was looking at the $80 Innova at AutoZone versus shelling out $600 for a Snap-On unit (my wallet hurt just thinking about it). I went cheap and it couldn't read the ABS module on a 2013 Ford Escape I had in my driveway. Has anyone else found a solid mid-range option that actually covers modern systems?

Went through the same thing myself. Used to think the cheap ones were good enough until I had one that couldn't pull codes on a newer car, and that pretty much changed my mind about skimping on them.
