Tried a cheap scan tool over a Snap-On, now I can't read ABS codes on Fords

I had to choose between a $150 Autel scanner and a $3,000 Snap-On Solus for my shop last week. Picked the Autel to save money, but it won't pull ABS codes on a 2018 F-150 I'm working on. Anyone else run into trouble with budget scanners missing key protocols?

You sure it's the scanner and not just Ford being Ford with their ABS stuff? I've seen cheap Autels miss stuff before but sometimes it's a module fault or a weird system quirk. Maybe try a different protocol setting if yours has a manual option.

Try forcing a J1850 connection manually since those older Ford modules are finicky about handshake timing.
