Tried a heat gun on a seized caliper bolt and it actually came out clean
I was working on a 2012 Silverado last week and the lower caliper bolt was completely stuck. Instead of reaching for the impact right away, I grabbed my Milwaukee heat gun and hit it for about two minutes. The bolt came out smooth with just a ratchet, no rounded head or broken stud. I always thought heat was just for exhaust stuff, but now I'm using it on any rusty suspension bolt. What other 'wrong tool' tricks have you guys had success with?

Honestly that "wrong tool" thing is so true. I use a butter knife to open paint cans all the time because it's just sitting there. Works better than the actual tool half the time.

Feel you on that @quinn_henderson, my whole life is using the wrong tool for the job. I once spent 20 minutes trying to open a package with a spoon because the scissors were across the room. It's a whole vibe, like why use the fancy thing when a random object from the drawer gets it done. My kitchen tools are probably so confused about their life purposes.

But is it really the wrong tool if it works? A spoon gets the package open same as scissors, just takes longer. The butter knife opens the paint can. Calling it a "vibe" makes it sound deep, but it's just being lazy. Tools don't have feelings, they're just things in a drawer.
