Got burned by a broker who quoted one price and charged another in Cleveland
I booked a car move from Cleveland to Phoenix in March, the guy on the phone swore it was $950 flat, then the driver showed up with a different bill for $1,250 and said the broker never locked the rate. The broker kept dodging my calls and the driver wouldn't unload my sedan until I paid the difference, so I had to fork over cash in a gas station parking lot. Has anyone else had a broker pull the bait and switch like that, and is there a way to spot these guys before you sign?

Ugh, that's brutal, but just so you know, the driver can't legally hold your car for a disputed bill like that. They have to let you unload, and you can fight the charges afterward, even though I get that you were stuck in a parking lot and probably felt like you had no choice. I always take a video of the quote screen and get the broker's name and license number in writing before they send anyone out.
