Appreciation post: my broken trekking pole saved a 9 mile day in the Smokies
The lock on my right pole gave out halfway up Charlie's Bunion last Saturday, but I found that wrapping a $3 roll of duct tape around the joint held it steady enough to finish, so has anyone else had a gear failure turn into a surprisingly solid workaround?

Duct tape holding a trekking pole sounds like a Tuesday for most of us. Glad it worked, but I'm not sure this is groundbreaking news.
