Hot take: I used to hate when my neighbor left brush piles, but the finch flock there made me a believer.
Ngl, I thought it was just lazy landscaping until I saw how many birds it shelters.

You know what's funny? I've started seeing this everywhere now. My mom's overgrown garden corner is a beetle hotel, and the leaf pile I never raked last fall had a whole frog family under it. We tidy up so much stuff that actually helps something else, just 'cause it looks messy to us.
