Serious question, has anyone else had a squirrel problem ruin their feeder setup?

I used to just hang a basic tube feeder from a branch in my maple tree here in Springfield. It was fine for a month, then a single gray squirrel figured out how to climb down the line and chew through the plastic base. Now I have a pole system with a 4-foot baffle and a weight-sensitive perch that closes off the ports. It cost me over $60, but the cardinals and chickadees can finally eat in peace. What's the most squirrel-proof thing you've actually had work for more than a season?

Tell me about it, they're like little engineers with nothing but time on their hands. That weight-sensitive perch is the real deal, isn't it? Makes you wonder what goes on in their heads when the food just disappears. I've seen them sit there and stare at the closed port like they're running a new calculation.

Ever notice how squirrels are basically tiny, furry hackers? They just keep finding new ways to break the system. Your setup sounds solid, that weight trick is the only thing that's ever worked for me long term.
