Just realized my diy pergola was 2 feet too low because of a kid's comment

My neighbor's 8 year old walked by while I was staining the posts and asked why my ceiling was so close to his head. I measured and sure enough, I followed a plan from a blog that had the beam height at 8 feet instead of the 10 I wanted for my tall friends. I built it in July over 3 weekends and never double checked the drawing because I trusted the source. Now I'm either redoing the main posts or accepting that my basketball hoop inside is a pipe dream. Has anyone else caught a build mistake from a random kid or visitor before they finished?

Kid called out my deck stairs being way steeper than normal once. Turned out the stringer math was off by like 3 inches each step. Caught it before concrete set so I just redid the whole thing that weekend. Kids got no filter but they see stuff we skip over.
