Hot take: calling a plumber vs fixing a sink leak yourself...
I spent three hours under my kitchen sink in Cleveland trying to stop a drip with a wrench and YouTube, then my neighbor called a pro who had it fixed in 20 minutes for $80... but I saved $60 on the last one I did myself. Which side do you lean on when it comes to home repairs sticking with diy or just paying for the quick fix?

That $80 plumber probably saved you from flooding your subfloor, but don't forget a lot of those quick fixes come with a trip fee that hikes up to $150 easy. What kind of leak was it?

Yeah, that trip fee thing is real. My cousin once called a guy for a slow drain and he charged $125 just to show up and tell her it was a clogged vent pipe on the roof. He wouldn't even touch it without another $200. But your point about the leak being specific is key. I had a pinhole leak in a copper pipe behind my washing machine once, the guy patched it in ten minutes and only charged me for the part and his time, no trip fee since he was already in the neighborhood.
