My sister told me my pie crust was 'tough as a tire' and it stung

I was so proud of my apple pie from scratch, but she took one bite and said that to my face. She actually showed me how she mixes her dough by hand with a pastry cutter instead of using a food processor, which I always did. Turns out I was overworking the gluten by pulsing it too much, making it dense. Now I do it her way and it's way flakier. Has anyone else had a family member give you harsh but useful baking feedback?

Tough as a tire describes half my baking attempts honestly.

I read that overmixing gluten is what makes baked goods tough as a tire.
