A shy teenager's haircut request shifted my approach

He mumbled so quietly I almost missed it. After I gave him the style he wanted, he smiled for the first time. That showed me how important it is to really listen.

Tbh calling it "just a haircut" is how my barber started his side gig saving on therapy bills.

That's a nice moment but it's just a haircut. You're probably reading way too much into a simple smile. Not every quiet kid needs a life lesson from the barber chair.
