Heads up barbers: Skipping the cool-down time on clippers burned a client's neck
I was in a rush yesterday and did not let my trimmers cool between uses. Finished a skin fade and went straight to detailing on another guy. He winced when I touched his neck with the hot blades. Now there is a slight burn mark, and he is pretty upset. I offered a free cut next time to make it right. From now on, I am setting a timer to let tools rest. Do not make my mistake. Heat builds up fast and can hurt someone. It is not worth saving a few minutes.

My barber always lets his trimmers cool for five minutes between clients. That discipline is WHY his shop has zero complaints.

Never considered that could matter, but it makes total sense now.

Totally get that. My old barber did the same thing with his clippers and his shaves were always perfect. You could tell he really cared about not rushing the tools. That kind of attention is what makes you a regular for years.
