Just had a clipper slip mid-fade, nearly took off a guy's ear in Austin

I was doing a skin fade on a regular client at my chair near the Domain, and my adjustable clipper popped open at the 1 guard setting without me noticing, so it went straight into his temple area. He flinched and I pulled back fast, but it left a nasty little nick that bled for a solid 5 minutes, and he said 'dude, that's a scar now.' I patched him up with styptic and finished the cut, but how do you guys handle a slip when the client is still in the chair, do you offer a discount or just apologize hard and move on?
