The $12 spray bottle trick that fixed my fading issue

Had a client in Austin come back twice last month because his color kept fading way too fast. I tried different brands, checked my developer ratios, the whole deal. Then my buddy at the shop next door told me to mix a tiny bit of vinegar with distilled water in a cheap spray bottle and mist the hair before applying toner. Worked like a charm, that fade is gone after 5 weeks now. Anybody else got weird homebrew fixes that actually beat the expensive stuff?
