Can we talk about the new carbon paste everyone seems to be using now?
Three years ago, I was building up a customer's high end road bike in the shop and we used a basic anti seize paste on the carbon seatpost. Last month, a guy brought in the same bike with the post totally stuck, took us two hours to get it out with a heat gun and a lot of patience. Then last week, I'm doing a tune on a gravel bike and the mechanic next to me is using this thick, gritty gray paste from a little syringe. He said it's specifically for carbon on carbon, something about the grit size being different to prevent cold welding. I tried it on a test piece and the clamping feel is totally different, way more consistent torque. Has anyone else switched over and noticed fewer seized posts coming back?

Used to think any grease would do the job, but that gritty paste is a game changer. It feels different when you tighten things down, like it's actually working. Had my first stuck post last month and I'm not going back to the old stuff.

What took you so long? I'm with you, @williamt44. That smooth grease just pushes things out of the way. The gritty stuff actually stays put and does the work. It's one of those things you don't know you need until you try it. Now I keep a tube in my bag all the time.
