Had a shop veteran tell me to stop using Park Tool chain breakers last month

An old timer at the co-op told me I was wasting money on Park Tool chain breakers and to switch to a Pedro's model instead. I was skeptical since I've used Park for years, but he insisted the pin alignment was better. After breaking three chains in two weeks with the Pedro's tool, I went back to my old Park one and haven't had a single issue. Has anyone else had a tool recommendation from a seasoned mechanic that just didn't work out for you?

Did that old timer show you his actual success rate with the Pedro's tool?

Man, I heard a buddy of mine tried that thing last summer. He said the guy claimed something like 80 percent success but when my buddy actually watched him work, it was more like 50/50 at best. And half the time the tool just slipped off the casing, so I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt.
