Back in the day, I bought a $150 'all weather' cycling jacket that wasn't.
It was a heavy, non-breathable shell that left me soaked in sweat within ten minutes, making my ride home miserable. I ended up giving it away after just a month and went back to my old, cheaper layers. What's the worst piece of gear you ever wasted money on for your commute?

A hundred and fifty dollars for a jacket that just traps your own sweat is brutal. I would have been so mad after that first soggy ride home. It's crazy how the expensive stuff sometimes works worse than the cheap layers you already trust. That kind of disappointment makes you really careful about buying gear again.
