Showerthought: catching up on old shows isn't the same as finding a new one live

I was talking to my buddy Dave last night at a bar and he said 'you never really experience a show if you just binge it after everyone else.' Hit me hard because I just finished The Wire in 9 days and I realized I missed all the online speculation between seasons. Does anyone else feel like you lose something by not watching as it airs?

And that whole thing of waiting a week between episodes let theories simmer, you'd talk to coworkers about what might happen next. Binging just turns it into one long movie instead of a shared experience that stretched out and felt bigger.

Nodding so hard at this. Binging takes away all that fun of trying to guess what's gonna happen with your friends the next day.
