Three years ago I refused to start a show unless the season was finished, that rule died in one weekend
Back in 2022 I made a strict rule for myself: no starting anything until the full season had aired, because I hated waiting week to week. Then my roommate in Chicago got me hooked on a mystery show that was only 4 episodes in, and I caved on a Friday night. By Sunday I had watched all 4 twice and was reading fan theories online like a crazy person. Turns out the weekly wait is half the fun, you actually talk to people about it instead of gulping it down alone. Does anyone here still prefer the week to week drop, or am I the only one who flipped sides?
My best friend had the exact same rule and broke it last fall with a thriller that was dropping weekly. She started hate watching it at first because she wanted answers right away, but then she got into a group chat with strangers on Reddit and they would all guess the killer together every Thursday night. By the finale she said it was the most fun she'd had watching TV in years, way better than binge shows she forgets in a week. The waiting forces you to sit with it and wonder, and the talking about it makes the whole thing a shared event instead of just something you do alone on the couch. Now she won't even touch a show that's fully out because she says it feels like homework. So you are not the only one who flipped, the week to week thing actually builds a little community around a show.
