Tried rewatching a show from 15 years ago and it did not hold up at all

I loved The Wire back in college. Got through the whole series twice. Last week I started it again and couldn't get past episode 3. The pacing felt so slow and the phone tech looked like a joke. Maybe I just have a shorter attention span now. Has anyone else gone back to an old favorite and been let down?

That's the thing though, isn't it... do we actually stop loving it, or do we just get tired of fighting for the good parts? There's so much stuff now that's been ruined by greedy suits who don't care about the people who made it special in the first place. But the core of it, the real thing we connected with, that's still there underneath all the garbage they piled on top. I wonder if we're just conditioned now to give up as soon as something gets messy instead of holding on to what mattered. What do you think makes something worth still loving after it's been through the wringer?
