Vent: The "critically acclaimed" show that put me to sleep 3 nights straight
Everyone keeps raving about The Old Oak, said it was a masterpiece, best drama of the year. I tried watching it Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. Fell asleep before the 20 minute mark every single time. Nothing happens for the first hour. I get that slow burn is supposed to be artistic, but this was a cold campfire. I finally gave up and rewatched an old season of Taskmaster instead. Has anyone else noped out of a hyped show because it just couldn't hold your attention?

I read somewhere that the director said the whole point was to make you sit with the silence, like a meditation or something. Cool, but I already meditate when I mow the lawn. I don't need an hour of a guy staring at a wall to get that feeling. My buddy kept telling me to push through to episode three, but if I need a nap schedule to enjoy a drama, that's a hard pass. Taskmaster wins every time, honestly. Some art just isn't for everyone, and that's fine.
