Got called out for my hammer control at the Tacoma hammer-in
An older smith watched me work and said, 'You're pushing the metal, not moving it.' I switched to a lighter hammer and focused on wrist flicks, which made a huge difference. Anyone else have a simple piece of advice that totally changed your technique?

Ever try to use a sledgehammer for a finishing nail? I spent a whole afternoon trying to straighten a bent bracket, swinging way too hard. My arm was killing me and the metal was just getting worse. A buddy finally told me to stop trying to beat it into submission and just tap it right. Felt like a total goof when a few light hits did the trick.

Sounds like my usual plan of attack, brute force followed by regret.
