My local scrap yard shut down without warning.

I was in the middle of a big gate project and now I'm stuck. Have to find a new source fast, and prices are way up.

My yard in Oakdale closed last spring without a word. I was finishing a fence and had to drive an hour for materials, prices were crazy.

Seriously, @holly_hill89, that's the worst kind of surprise. When local spots vanish, it's not just about the drive, it shows how fragile our local economy is getting. Whole towns start to feel hollowed out.

Is it really that fragile though? Places close all the time for their own reasons. Maybe the owner retired or the rent got too high. It's a pain for your project, sure, but calling it a sign of the local economy falling apart seems like a stretch. Don't you think we jump to big conclusions over small stuff sometimes?
