Had to choose between a custom folder and a vintage blazer for the same budget

Last month I had $300 burning a hole in my pocket and couldn't decide between a custom G10 knife from a local maker or a 70s Pendleton blazer I found online. I went with the knife because I figured I'd use it more, but now every time I see a sharp herringbone jacket I second guess myself. Anyone else ever pick one hobby over the other and regret it later?

Oh man I FEEL this. Last year I had $250 saved up and went back and forth between a vintage Filson cruiser jacket and a custom fixed blade from a guy in Oregon. I went with the jacket and honestly I still think about that knife every time I see someone slicing an apple with a cool blade. The jacket is great and all but it hangs in my closet while I use a cheap Opinel for everything. It's like you always want what you didn't pick. Now I've got two hobbies fighting for my wallet and they both keep winning sometimes.

Funny you say that, my buddy Mark did almost the exact same thing. He was between a vintage Stanley hand plane and a nice Benchmade folder. Went with the plane, now it sits on his shelf collecting dust while he cuts open packages with a rusty box cutter. He jokes about it every time we're at a flea market and sees someone flipping open a nice knife. Told me last week he's finally selling the plane to fund the knife, so maybe that's the real lesson here.
