My brass liner kept scratching blades until I tried a leather strop with green compound

Took me 6 months and three ruined custom knives to realize the issue wasn't the steel, it was my burr removal, so I switched to a 2-inch leather strop with green compound and now my edges hold twice as long, anyone else fought brass shavings in their pivot screws?
