Chose a 3 roller plate bender over a hydraulic press brake for a small tank job
Got a job last fall rolling 1/4 inch plate into a 36 inch diameter shell for a small water tank, just 4 courses. I went back and forth on renting a press brake or buying a used 3 roller bender, and the bender won because it could do the full curve in one pass instead of bumping it. Cost me $2,800 used out of a shop in Gary, Indiana, and it paid for itself on that one job. The fit up was tighter than I expected and I only had to tweak two seams with a come along. Curious if anyone here still bumps plate on a brake or if you all went to rolls.
