Hard hat stickers and why nobody cares about them anymore
Started in 1987 up in Gary Indiana and back then every guy on site had their hard hat covered in stickers. Union stuff, band logos, funny sayings, all that. You could tell who was who from across the yard just by the hat. Now most guys I see either got a clean yellow hat or maybe one tiny company decal. Some even rock those full face shields that cover everything. I asked a young fella about it last month and he said the safety guys make em peel off anything that aint reflective. Guess it changed after the audits got stricter around 2008 or so. Anyone else remember the old sticker culture or am I just yelling at clouds? What do you guys put on your lids these days?

You say nobody cares about stickers anymore, but that young fella with the clean hat is the one who gets it right. Those audits after 2008 weeded out the junk that made us look like a bunch of clowns, and a reflective decal might save your life when a forklift can't see you in the dark. The old culture was fun, sure, but if a sticker blocks a warning label or peels off to look like dirt, that's on you when the inspector writes you up, so what's your excuse for keeping them?
