I was sure our group would hate the book with a 500 page slow start
We picked a long novel for our club last month, and I argued hard against it because the first half is just setting up the characters. My friend Lisa said to trust her, and after 300 pages, the whole plot flipped in a way I never saw coming. The last 200 pages made the slow start make perfect sense. Now I'm the one pushing for another book by that author. Has your club ever been totally wrong about a book's pace?

Voted to drop a book we now all quote constantly.

Honestly that vote sounds pretty short sighted now. The book clearly found its audience even if it wasn't obvious at first. Tbh its staying power proves it was worth keeping around.
