That slow descent into madness is the best part. You start with detailed theories and end with memes about the fictional food. The group chat just gives up on spelling the character names correctly after page 300.

Watched my friend's chat for a sci-fi book go from deep talks about time travel rules to just posting pictures of weird looking potatoes that looked like the alien villain. They totally did what @morganhayes said, by the end they were calling the main character "Steve" because his real name was too long. The final message was just a gif of a guy shrugging.
