The lady at my book club who threw her copy across the room during the last chapter of The Road

This was about 2 years ago at a small group meeting in someone's living room. We were discussing The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and one woman, Sarah, got really quiet as we talked about the ending. Then she just picked up her paperback and tossed it onto the couch across the room. She said 'I spent 6 weeks reading this and now I have to imagine what happens next? He just dies and that's it?' She was so mad about the ambiguous ending. It got me thinking about how different people need closure from a book. Some people want every loose thread tied up. Others like me are fine with the mystery. It really stuck with me because I never realized how much the ending can make or break someone's whole experience with a book. Has anyone else had a club member react that strongly to a book's ending?
