Just realized I hit 47 different plant species in my backyard without even trying

I was just counting up what's growing back there (we moved in last spring) and I honestly thought I'd have maybe 15-20 things. But I kept finding more. Like there's this tiny moss I thought was just dirt until I looked closer. And 47 is a weird number, right? Not 50 even. But it got me thinking - do most people's yards have this many random plants or is my place just a weed paradise? Has anyone else ever actually counted what's growing in their own space?

Maybe it's just me but counting every single plant in your yard seems like a lot of work. I mean, I get being curious about what's out there but 47 species feels like you were really digging for stuff. Moss that looks like dirt doesn't exactly count as a major discovery, does it? Honestly half that stuff is probably just weeds the wind blew in that don't even matter.

Used to think the same way honestly. Counting weeds felt pointless to me until I actually sat down and looked at what was growing. Changed my whole view on what "matters" in a yard.
