My greenhouse heater gave out during the freeze last Tuesday
I woke up to 28 degree temps and my backup thermometer read 40 inside, not the 55 I set. The digital display was just flashing. I had to move all my tender seedlings, about 30 of them, into the house bathroom overnight. It was a total scramble. Has anyone found a reliable small heater that can handle a sudden cold snap?

Oh man, that sounds like a nightmare. My uncle tried to use a space heater in his shed once and it tripped the breaker, so then he had no lights either.

Classic uncle move, right? Sounds like he could've used @terry_adams81's extension cord trick, though maybe not in a shed.

Ugh, that's the worst! Honestly, I had the same thing happen in my old apartment. I ended up running an extension cord from a different room's outlet, one that was on its own circuit. It was a pain, but it kept the heater going without killing the lights. Just make sure you use a heavy-duty cord rated for the heater's wattage. Tbh, it's not a perfect fix, but it got me through the winter.
