Overheard a guy at the nursery say 'succulents are just lazy plants' and it got me thinking

I was at Armstrong Garden Center in San Diego last Saturday grabbing some soil and I heard this older dude tell his friend that succulents are 'just lazy plants for lazy people.' At first I was kinda offended since I got like 15 echeverias at home. But then I thought about it and honestly there is some truth to it lol. I take care of my calatheas with a humidifier and distilled water but my succulents just sit there in the sun and thrive with zero effort. Has anyone else caught themselves putting way more work into fussy plants while your succulents just do their thing?

15 echeverias? That's not lazy, that's a whole collection you're invested in.

Read that echeverias are actually one of the easier succulents to keep alive, so maybe it's just smart plant parenting. They don't need much water and they bounce back pretty quick even if you forget about them for a while. Plus with 15 you can mix up the colors and leaf shapes which makes the whole shelf look more interesting.
