Pro tip: dried beans beat canned for saving money long term

I finally ran the numbers last month after going back and forth on this for ages. A 2lb bag of dried pinto beans costs me $3 at the local grocery in Austin, but that same amount of canned beans would run me about $7-8 and have way more sodium. The tradeoff is you gotta plan ahead and soak them overnight, but honestly the texture is way better. Anybody else made the switch and missed the convenience of cans?

Yeah but the convenience factor is huge if you're someone who actually remembers to soak beans. Half the time I end up ordering pizza cause I forgot to start them the night before, and that costs way more than either option.

@robert64 you and me both man, I've got a bag of pinto beans staring at me from the cupboard right now that I keep swearing I'll soak "tomorrow.
